Itinerary of the Baikal Helicopter Tour: Irkutsk – Irkutsk-Helipad – Talci National Museum – Listvyanka – along the Circum-Baikal Railway – Irkutsk-Helipad.
Tour Description
The tour starts at the Helipad located a few kilometers from Irkutsk. It is possible to make a stop along the way either in Listvyanka village or on Cape Polovinniy.
Listvyanka is one of the oldest villages at Baikal lake. The name of the village is associated with larches that grow on the cape with the same name. The riverhead of Angara river lays in the heart of Listvyanka. Its width measures 863 meters, which is the largest in the world. From the riverbank, you can see the legendary Shaman rock that stands right in the middle of the river. The riverhead of Angara never freezes even during the harshest cold season, this is why this area is the winter destination for many water birds. Towards the end of December, the number of birds can reach over several thousand. In Listvyanka you will have the opportunity to buy souvenirs, delicious Baikal fish, and enjoy the views of Baikal.
Cape Polovinniy is one of the most popular tourist attractions. Two tunnels, the shortest and the longest, pass through the cape. There is a picturesque ferroconcrete arched viaduct over the Bolshaya Polovinnaya River. You will be able to walk through the tunnels and see the stunning views of the area.
