Irkutsk Art Museum

The Irkutsk Regional Art Museum, named after its founder V. P. Sukachov, is one of Russia’s oldest museums and holds the richest art collection anywhere beyond the Ural Mountains — more than 23,000 pieces in total, spread across four historic buildings.

THE FOUR BRANCHES

● Main Building (Lenina St., 5) — Russian and Western European art from the 17th to 21st centuries, plus art from China, Japan, and Mongolia spanning the 14th to 20th centuries. A two-story stone estate with its own park, built in the early 1900s by architect D. R. Magidey.

● Gallery of Siberian Art (Karl Marx St., 23) — Siberian art from the 17th to 21st centuries, housed in an 1880s stone estate.

● V. P. Sukachov Estate (Dekabrskikh Sobytiy St., 112) — a memorial exposition on the Sukachov family, set across five wooden houses and a park dating to the 1880s.

● A. N. Gindina Mansion (Sverdlov St., 16) — a 19th-century tenement house.
